TMJ / TMD - Temporomandibular Disorder

Many of the patients who seek my help come to me with one or a combination of the following

Intra-oral and/or extra-oral symptoms:

INTRA-ORAL (IN THE MOUTH) SYMPTOMS

·         Crowded or crooked front teeth

·         Chipped or work-down front teeth

·         Divets at the gumline, misnamed “toothbrush abrasion”

·         Broken teeth

·         Missing teeth

·         Swollen gums

·         Deep Overbite or Overjet

·         Gapped teeth

·         Loose teeth

·         Clenching/Grinding teeth

EXTRA-ORAL (OUTSIDE THE MOUTH) SYMPTOMS

·         Headaches

·         Migraines

·         Sinus problems

·         Earache

·         Ringing in the ears (Tinnitus)

·         Clicking and Popping noises in the jaw joint area

·         TMJ noise

·         TMJ pain

·         Dizziness

·         Facial Pain

·         Sensitivity to chewing

·         Neck pain

·         Insomnia

·         Difficulty chewing

·         Difficulty Swallowing

These symptoms can be a sign of TMD/TMJ – Temporomandibular Joint Disorder – it’s a syndrome often equated to the misalignment of the jaws.

If the misalignment is NOT corrected prior to restoring the natural teeth with a beautiful smile design, the porcelain crowns, bridges or veneers used to improve the smile will be subject to the same destructive forces that the nature teeth fell victim to and before long, the restorations will be worn and destroyed just as the natural teeth were.
